Next Steps tab

Once you've shared a canvas, the waiting game begins. Has your client opened it yet? Did everyone finish their review, or are you still waiting on one person? Should you set a deadline to keep things moving?

That's where the Next Steps tab comes in! It sits right next to your comments in the canvas sidebar and gives you a live summary of where your review stands, plus one-click access to the actions that help you get to a final approval faster.

Go to any canvas and open the sidebar. At the top, you'll see two tabs: Comments, and Next Steps. Click Next Steps to switch over.

At the very top of the tab, you'll see a one-line summary of where things stand - for example, "One reviewer requested changes". It's the quickest way to know whether you're clear to move forward or whether someone is waiting on you.

The Reviewers section lists everyone who has been invited to review the canvas, along with when they last opened it and where they landed on their review.

The heading tells you the overall count at a glance and you can see whether each person has approved, requested changes, or hasn't finished their review yet.

Underneath each person's name you'll see when they opened the canvas, so you can tell the whether they haven't looked at it yet or if they're just not finished reviewing yet.

Note: Reviewer statuses come from the Finish Review button visible to reviewers, and approvals are tied to a specific version of the canvas. When you create a new version, approvals reset and the Next Steps tab starts tracking the new round of reviews.

You can collapse the section using the arrow on the right if you'd rather keep the tab compact.

Suggested Actions is a shortcut to the canvas settings that most often help move a review along. Instead of digging through the share modal or canvas settings, you can trigger them straight from the sidebar. Whether you want to set a Feedback Deadline or Password Protect a canvas, any relevant actions are easily accessible.

Just click an action to open it, and set it up without ever leaving the canvas. Suggested actions update based on the canvas - once you've set a deadline, for example, that suggestion is replaced with the next most useful thing to do.

The Activity feed is a running history of the review, newest first. It includes things like when the canvas was created and any reviews submitted by reviewers.

Because reviewers can submit more than one review, the feed is often the clearest picture of how a review actually unfolded - you might see a client request changes, and then approve it later once updates were made. The Reviewers section shows you where everyone landed; Activity shows you how they got there.

Like the Reviewers section, Activity can be collapsed with the arrow on the right, and the number beside the heading tells you how many events there are in total.

The Next Steps tab is visible to the canvas owner. Clients, other reviewers and team members who open the canvas through a shared link won't see it - their view of the sidebar stays focused on comments and their own review.
