To create a canvas, just head on over to your dashboard and click the 'create a canvas' button located on the top right of your screen.

Your clients don’t need to install anything and will not be signed up for an account when they input their name and email. They then can click and type to leave a comment anywhere.

When your clients leave feedback, you’ll get an email notification letting you know there’s new activity on your canvas. You can reply to comments and have conversations right on the page - your clients will get notified when you reply in a Pastel canvas.

You can pause commenting and schedule feedback deadlines through the share modal to better manage when and how long clients can leave feedback!

Also, you and your team members can leave private comments that are only visible to members of your team.

You can add custom labels to comments to help keep things organized.

You and your team members are able to export comments left in Pastel to your favorite project management too! Each comment export includes the text, metadata, screenshot, and a link back to the original comment.

How do comments work in a canvas?

  • All comments are organized in the sidebar by page and have browser and screen size info, along with a screenshot of where the comment was left. So you’ll have all the information you need to act on the feedback.

How do I find comments on multiple pages?

  • When a canvas has many comments across multiple pages, click the 'All comments on current page only' toggle to filter the comments quickly. You will only see the comments left on that specific page you are on, making it easier to find the feedback comments related to that page.

You’ll still be able to navigate to other pages within the canvases and see which canvases have active, in progress, in review, and resolve comments. On website canvases, go into “browse” mode to do this and on design canvases, just click on another image or page in a PDF.

Can I filter and export comments?

  • You can search and filter comments, as well as export them to your favourite project management tool. Read more about exporting here.
