In some cases, certain websites may not render properly or screenshots might not be generated correctly when viewed through the Pastel proxy. If you have a website protected by a VPN or firewall, we recommend whitelisting Pastel's IP addresses.

If this is not possible, or if you have whitelisted our IPs but continue encountering issues, the Pastel Chrome browser extension offers an alternative way of creating and accessing canvases for websites behind VPNs or firewalls while waiting for a bug fix from the Pastel dev team.

It also enables you to create canvases more quickly.

Installing the Pastel Chrome Extension

To install the Pastel Chrome extension, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open your Google Chrome web browser.

  2. Visit the extension's page on the Chrome Web Store by clicking on this URL: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/pastel/pogpefpnemelncamdkcigobcdilekfpk/

  3. Click on the "Add to Chrome" button located at the top right corner of the page.

  4. A confirmation pop-up will appear, asking if you want to add the extension. Click on "Add extension" to proceed.

Creating a Canvas using Chrome Browser Extension:

  1. To create a new canvas using the extension, first make sure you are logged into your Pastel account.

  2. Open the website you'd like to create a canvas for.

  3. Click on the Pastel Extension in your Chrome menu bar.

    1. You can also navigate to your browser extensions by clicking the three dots located at the top right corner of your Chrome browser.

    2. Click here to learn how to add/manage extensions.

  4. Once you select the Pastel Extension, you'll be prompted to "Create Pastel canvas" for the site you are currently on.

  5. Once you click the "Create" button, a canvas will be created for the site you were viewing. Your new canvas will open up in a new tab.

Accessing a Canvas using Chrome Browser Extension

  • Once the Pastel Chrome extension is installed, ensure that all team members and clients who require access to a canvas have also installed the Pastel Chrome extension. You can then view the canvas normally.

  • You do not have to recreate any canvases created before installing the browser extension.
